COUGARS FALL TO WAU AND SARAH LAWRENCE IN MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Brooklyn, NY- The Cougars played a Tri Match in Men's Volleyball on Sunday February 19, 2012 at MEC. The first match was against the Washington Adventist Shock. The Shock won 3-0. The first 2 sets were forfeited by MEC due to only having 5 players which you need a min of 6. When the 6th player showed up, MEC fought hard but lost the 3rd set 25-19. WAU improved to 1-2 while the Cougars fell to 0-5.

MEC in the match was led by Jamal Baptiste. He tallied 4 kills and tallied a blocking assist. Olando Cummings and Christopher Welsh each tallied a kill. Lancedale Calderon tallied 5 assists. Jason Brown along with Cummings and Welsh tallied a service ace. Brown also recorded a blocking assist.

WAU was led by Anthony Berry as he recorded 4 kills.

The 2nd match WAU defeated Sarah Lawrence 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-18). The Shock improved to 2-2, while Sarah Lawrence was 0-1.

The 3rd match featured the Gryphons of SLC vs MEC. Sarah Lawrence won in 5 sets 3-2 (22-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-17, 12-15). SLC improved to 1-1 while the Cougars dropped to 0-6.

MEC was led by Jamal Baptiste. Baptiste recorded a game high 10 kills, recorded an assist, a service ace, 8 digs, and a blocking assist. Olando Cummings tallied 7 kills and tallied a team high 4 blocking assists. Lancedale Calderon tallied a gaeme high 21 assists.

SLC was led by Ishaan Pujari who tallied 8 kills. 

MEC will be back in action on Wednesday February 22, 2012 when they take on John Jay Bloodhounds at John Jay College. This is a non conference matchup and will get underway at 6pm.
