COUGARS FALL TO JOHN JAY 3-1 IN NON CONFERENCE TILT

New York, NY- The Cougars dropped a non conference matchup vs John Jay College Bloodhounds 3-1 in Men's Volleyball on Wednesday February 22, 2012 at John Jay College. The loss dropped MEC to 0-7 Overall while John Jay achieved their first victory in program history and now 1-5 Overall.

MEC won the first set 25-21. They converted 9 kills and made only 4 errors compared to John Jay's 8. John Jay took the next 3 sets (19-25, 16-25, and 23-25). The sets were close but MEC committed 19 errors to John Jay's 17.

MEC in the loss was led by Jamal Baptiste. The Junior had 12 kills, 7 kills, and 2 solo blocks. Jason Brown tallied 9 kills, an assist, a service ace, and 12 digs. Lancedale Calderon tallied a team high 20 assists. Erick Pericles led with 2 service aces and Christopher Welsh with 2 blocking assists led the Cougars in that category.

John Jay was led by Frankie Galang with 12 kills.

MEC will be back in action on Saturday February 25, 2012 when they play the Sarah Lawrence University Gryphons in Bronxville, NY. Game time is set for 1pm.
