New York, NY- The Cougars opened the 2012 Men's Volleyball season with a CUNYAC Multi match held at Hunter College on Saturday February 4, 2012.

In Match 1, MEC fell to Hunter College 3-0 (10-25, 7-25, and 10-25). The loss drops MEC to 0-1 Overall and 0-1 CUNYAC while Hunter College improves to 1-5 Overall and 1-0 CUNYAC.

Hunter dominated the entire match. MEC was led by Jamal Baptiste with 3 kills and 2 digs. Olando Cummings and Christopher Welsh each tallied 2 kills. Lancedale Calderon tallied 4 assists. Jason Brown along with Welsh and Calderon each recorded a solo block.

Hunter was led by Chris Newcomb with 6 kills.

In Match 2, MEC fell to CCNY 3-0 (13-25, 21-25, 18-25). The loss drops MEC to 0-2 Overall and 0-2 CUNYAC while CCNY improves to 1-7 Overall and 1-1 CUNYAC. 

Jamal Baptiste led the Cougars with 6 kills. Jason Brown tallied 4 kills and Olando Cummings and Christopher Welsh each tallied 2 kills. Lancedale Calderon led the team in assists and service aces with 3 and 10.

Nick Siriban led CCNY with 10 kills.

MEC will be back in action on Tuesday February 7, 2012 when they play at Yeshiva University in New York, NY. Game time is 8pm at YU.
