COUGARS FALL TO BEARS IN MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Volleyball team fell to Saint Joseph's College of Brooklyn Bears 3-1 (25-20, 15-25, 12-25, and 16-25). The Bears improve to 2-3 Overall while the Cougars drop to 0-5 Overall.

The Cougars won their 1st set of the season. They tallied 93 total attacks and 31 kills, both season highs. In the first set, the Cougars converted on seven kills on 25 total attacks. They tallied nine kills in the 2nd set, 10 in the 3rd set, and five in the 4th set. The turning point of this match, was in the 3rd set, with the Cougars up 12-9, the Bears would go on 15-0 run, ending the set at 25-12. The 4th set, the Cougars were up 7-6, before Saint Joseph's College went on 18-9 run, to close out the match.

In the loss, the Cougars were led by Sophomore Middle Hitter Jamal Chance with 15 kills on 29 total attacks. This is a career high in kills. The Grenada native tallied a service ace, a team high 11 digs, and added a solo block. Sophomore Outside Hitter Adiel Ramos Munoz tallied six kills and Junior Middle Hitter Shemroy Primo tallied five kills. Freshman Setter Angel Seda recorded a team high 18 assists.    

In the win, Saint Joseph's College of Brooklyn was led by Raul Urshela with 23 kills. Iqbal Husain tallied 32 assists. 

The Cougars will be back in action on Thursday February 20, 2014, when they take on conference and borough rival Brookln College Bulldogs at Medgar Evers College. Game time is 7pm.
