COUGARS START MEN'S VOLLEYBALL SEASON ON A DOWN NOTE

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Bronx, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Volleyball team played in their first two matches of the 2014 season. It was a CUNYAC Multi Match held at Lehman College in the Bronx. In Match 1, the Cougars fell to the Hunter College Hawks 3-0 (25-14, 25-4, and 25-11). The Hawks improve to 2-4 Overall and 1-0 CUNYAC while the Cougars drop to 0-1 Overall and 0-1 CUNYAC. 

The Cougars played with 7 student-athletes. The team combined for 7 kills on 34 total attacks. Two Cougars, Sophomore Middle Hitter Jamal Chance and Freshman Outside Hitter Austin Crawford recorded two kills apiece. Chance added two digs and a solo block. Crawford recorded an assist, five digs, and a blocking assist. Freshman Setter Angel Seda recorded a team high four assists. The Hawks were led by Steven Tarquinio with 12 kills.

In Match 2, the Cougars fell to the Baruch College Bearcats 3-0 (25-4, 25-9, and 25-9). The Bearcats improve to 6-1 Overall and 2-0 CUNYAC while the Cougars 0-2 Overall and 0-2 CUNYAC. 

The Cougars tallied 9 kills on 40 total attacks. It was an improvement in the kills category compared to the 1st match.

Medgar Evers College was led by Sophomore Middle Hitter Jamal Chance with four kills on 16 total attacks. Chance tallied two digs. Freshman Setter Angel Seda dished out a team high six assists. Sophomore Outside Hitter Adiel Ramos Munoz added the teams only service ace. 

Baruch was led by Jack McKee with 16 kills.

The Cougars will be back in action, when they play their 2014 home opener against City College of New York Beavers, on Wednesday February 12, 2014. Game time is 7pm.
