COUGARS FALL TO COOPER UNION 3-0 IN MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Volleyball team fell to the Cooper Union Hawks 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, and 25-12) earlier today. The Hawks improve to 4-3 Overall while the Cougars drop to 0-14 Overall.

This match was a see-saw battle. The Cougars led four times (1-0, 5-4, 7-6, and 8-7). With the score tied at 9, the Hawks went on a 5-0 run, and won the set 25-16. The Cougars tallied six kills on 18 total attacks. In set two, the Cougars led just once 11-10. They fought hard the entire set, recording 11 kills, but Cooper Union was too tough. In set three, the Cougars struggled to score. They tallied four kills. 

In the loss, the Cougars were led by Freshman Outside Hitter Austin Crawford with nine kills on 24 total attacks. The Belize native, recorded a match high 11 digs. Sophomore Middle Hitter Jamal Chance tallied seven kills on 23 total attacks. The Grenada native added a match high three blocking assists. Freshman Setter and Co-Captain Angel Seda with a team high 13 assists.

In the win, Cooper Union was led by Matthew Lee with 10 kills. Jon Ostrander added 21 assists.

The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday March 18, 2014, when the Baruch College Bearcats come to Medgar Evers College. First serve is 7pm.
