COUGARS TALLY SEVEN KILLS; NOT ENOUGH TO BEAT CCNY IN MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Box Score New York, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Volleyball team fell to the City College of New York Beavers 3-0 (9-25, 12-25, and 9-25) earlier tonight. The Beavers improve to 8-11 Overall and 4-3 CUNYAC while the Cougars drop to 0-9 Overall and 0-6 CUNYAC. 

The Cougars tallied seven kills for the match. It tied for the 2nd lowest this season, which was four kills against Brooklyn Colege early this season. 

The first set featured two ties and one lead change. The Cougars led 1-0 and 4-1 before the Beavers mounted a stretch of points, and took the set 25-9. In set two, Medgar Evers College tied the match at 1, and 3, before taking a 4-3 lead. Once again the Beavers would regain the lead, and not let it go, this time winning the set 25-12. In the third set, City College of New York led wire to wire. 

The Cougars were led by Freshman Outside Hitter Austin Crawford with four kills on 15 total attacks. The Belize native added a dig. Freshman Setter Angel Seda tallied a team high five assists. Sophomore Middle Hitter Jamal Chance recorded three solo blocks, which was a season high.

In the win, the Beavers were led by Brian Yik Lim with eight kills. Anthony Reyes recorded a match high 24 assists.

The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday March 8, 2014, when they play in a CUNYAC Multi match, held at John Jay College. The first match @ John Jay will be played at 9:00am, followed by a matchup vs. Lehman College at 1:00pm.
