Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 New Rochelle, NY- The Medgar Evers College Women's Volleyball team played in the 2014 College of New Rochelle Multi Match earlier today. In match 1, the Cougars fell to the College of New Rochelle Blue Angels 3-0 (7-25, 8-25, 6-25). The Cougars fell to 0-3 Overall while the Blue Angels improve to 3-3 Overall. 

The Cougars did not play offensively well in this match. As a team, they tallied six kills, the lowest of the season, at this point.

Senior Outside Hitter Kiwelewa Mlimwengu led the Cougars with six kills on 18 total attacks. The Brooklyn, NY native added four digs. Junior Setter AnnMarie Bemberry dished out a team high five assists.She also added five digs, and a solo block. 

In the win, the College of New Rochelle Blue Angels were led by Meghan King with five kills. 

In match 2, the Cougars defeated the College of Old Westbury Panthers 3-0 (25-12, 25-9, 25-20). The Cougars improved to 1-3 Overall while the Panthers drop to 0-2 Overall. 

The Cougars played their best offensive match, through the 1st four matches. After breezing through the 1st two sets, the 3rd set, was a see-saw battle. The Panthers led 8-4 before the Cougars mounted a comeback.Medgar Evers College took the lead at 10-9, and not look back. 

The team tallied a season high 20 kills on 50 total attacks.

In the win, the Cougars were led by Sophomore Outside Hitter Kalifa Robers with a match high seven kills on 17 total attacks.The Trinidadian native added five service aces, and six digs. Senior Outside Hitter Kiwelewa Mlimwengu tallied five kills, along with five service aces. Sophomore Middle Blocker Michell Cadet tied a career high four kills, along with four service aces. Sophomore Opposite Hitter Cynthia Cruz and Freshman Defensive Specialist Jkaira Collins each recorded two kills apiece, both career highs. Sophomore Setter AnnMarie Bemberry dished out a match high 12 assists.

In the loss, the Panthers were led by Fareeda Roushdy with three kills.

The Cougars look to continue this momentum, when they travel to Kings Point, NY and take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The match will take place on Tuesday Sept. 9, 2014. First serve will be 7pm.
