Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Medgar Evers men's soccer team gave full effort throughout the game, but they would fall to John Jay College, 8-0, in a CUNYAC conference game Wednesday afternoon at the Aviator Sports Complex.
Zeakial Daley (Bronx, N.Y./Martin Van Buren) had great chances at the net for the Cougars (2-10, 1-4 CUNYAC), firing three of the four shots the team had on goal. Filling in at goalkeeper,
Dave Henry (Carrefour, Haiti/Canarsie) made nine saves in a losing effort.
Gerardo Flores-Ramirez led a balanced offensive attack for the Bloodhounds (4-8, 3-2 CUNYAC) with two goals in the victory. Grayson Carlson was one of six players notching a goal. Daniel Hoyte made four saves for a shutout win in goal.
In the first half and throughout the game, Medgar Evers displayed an aggressive form of soccer by disrupting numerous John Jay challenges. The Bloodhounds would finally break through at 19:02 when Carlson netted a goal. Sehad Mujovic would add another score on a Carlson cross at 26:06.
They would move to 4-0 before halftime following an Abdul Malik Muftau goal and a Cougars own goal. The second half saw Ramirez put the game officially out of reach for John Jay with his first two goals of the season in the 58th and 62th minutes, respectively.
The next matchup for Medgar Evers is a CUNYAC game on the road, facing off with Hunter College Friday afternoon. Start time is set for 3:00 p.m.
