Box Score 2 Men's Volleyball Swept by Brooklyn and CSI in CUNYAC Tri-Match
(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) – The men's volleyball team traveled to Brooklyn College for a CUNYAC tri-match between the Bulldogs and the Dolphins of Staten Island. The Cougars played a tough first match against host Brooklyn but were eventually swept 3-0. In their second match, they fell 3-0 to Staten Island. With both losses, Medgar Evers falls to 0-6 (0-3 CUNYAC) on the year while Brooklyn improves to 6-5 (1-0) and Staten Island moves to 1-2 (1-0).
In the first match against Brooklyn the Cougars struggled from the beginning falling behind 12-1 and eventually losing the match 25-7. The second set was much different as Medgar Evers battled back and forth. They were down 14-9 but answered with five straight points forcing Brooklyn to call a timeout. After it was tied up at 17, Brooklyn ended the set on an 8-3 run. The Cougars hung around trailing just 6-5 when Brooklyn responded with a 13-2 run of their own. Medgar Evers would fall 25-9 in the third and final set.
The Cougars were led by senior
Angel Seda (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who tallied 11 assists. Junior
Shaquille Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded a team-high six digs and five kills on the match. Brooklyn was led by
Vaughn Titus who recorded a game-high nine kills.
The second match of the day against Staten Island the Cougars had a difficult time with the Dolphins. Staten Island won the first set convincingly 25-6. The second set was also rough as Medgar Evers was defeated 25-7 and in the third and final set the Dolphins ran away with it defeating the Cougars 25-5. The Cougars were led by
Angel Seda, freshman
Dwight Boone (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and
Shaquille Miller. Seda recorded 10 assists, Boone had a team-high nine digs and Miller added six kills. Staten Island was led by
Brandon Lei who had 14 digs on the match.
Men's volleyball is back in action Tuesday, February 21
st when they host Albertus Magnus in a non-conference match at the Cougars' Cave beginning at 7 p.m.
