Men’s Volleyball Swept by Lancaster Bible and John Jay in Non-Conference Tri-Match

(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) – The men's volleyball team hosted Lancaster Bible College and John Jay College in a non-conference tri-match at the Cougars' Cave on Saturday afternoon.  The Cougars struggled against the Chargers in the first matchup losing 3-0. In their second match, they fell 3-0 to John Jay. With both losses, Medgar Evers falls to 0-10 (0-4 CUNYAC) on the year while Lancaster Bible improves to 13-5 and John Jay moves to 5-9.
 
In the first match against Lancaster Bible the Cougars had a difficult time keeping up with the Chargers and their powerful attacks losing 25-5. The second set was a little better as Medgar Evers strung together a few rallies but would still drop the set 25-9. The third set was a rough one for the Cougars as they fell 25-6.
 
Due to the many attacks from Lancaster Bible the Cougars had a lot of digs on the match. Four players had double-figure digs on the match, led by sophomore Abdul Kamara (Sierra Leon, West Africa) who had a team-high 17 digs. Freshman Dwight Boone (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and junior Ronald Bonhomme (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each added 14 digs of their own also. The Chargers were led by Nicholas Wesley who recorded 15 digs on the match.
 
The second match of the day against John Jay the Cougars had a rough match. Medgar Evers struggled in the first set falling 25-9. The second set was much better as the Cougars had some decent rallies putting the pressure on the Bloodhounds. John Jay would pull away winning the second set 25-16. The third and final set went to John Jay as they defeated the Cougars 25-11.  Medgar Evers was led by junior Shaquille Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who had a match-high 35 digs on the match. Freshman Dwight Boone had 16 digs while Abdul Kamara added 13. John Jay was led by Jerson Guaman who had 19 digs on the match.
 
Men's volleyball is back in action Tuesday, February 28th when they host John Jay in a CUNYAC match at the Cougars' Cave beginning at 7 p.m.
