Box Score Men's Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets to Hunter in CUNYAC Matchup
(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) – Medgar Evers men's volleyball team hosted the Hawks of Hunter College in a CUNYAC matchup on Thursday night. The Cougars had a challenging time keeping up with the power and quickness of Hunter as they would drop the match in straight sets. With that loss, the Cougars fall to 0-21 (0-10 CUNYAC) on the year while Hunter improves to 21-4 (6-0).
In the first set the Cougars came out strong but couldn't stop the kills from Hunter which resulted in a 25-9 first set loss. In the second set Medgar Evers fell behind quick and when they finally got in a rhythm it ended up being too late as they would drop the set 25-8. The final set was a tough one for the Cougars as they failed to stop the runs made by Hunter eventually losing the set 25-4.
Medgar Evers was led by sophomore
Kareem Cyrus (Saint Georges, Grenada) who recorded 16 digs in the match. Freshman
Dwight Boone (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a very good game as well recording 12 digs. For Hunter College, Benjamin Cassidy led the team with 14 digs while also attaining 5 kills in the game. The Cougars will be back in action Tuesday, March 28
th as the face the Beavers of CCNY in a CUNYAC matchup at the Cougars Cave beginning at 7 p.m.
