Penn Relays Results
The Medgar Evers College outdoor track & field team competed at the Queensborough Relays, which were hosted by Queensborough Community College, on Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13, in Bayside, NY. On Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20, the team traveled to Washington, D.C., to compete in the Gallaudet University Invitational, which was also a dual meet between Medgar Evers and Gallaudet.
At Queensborough, the most notable performance was a season-best time of 56.70 in the 400-meter hurdles for
Hakeem Alexander-Blake, who won the event. Alexander-Blake's time is the second-fastest mark in the CUNYAC this season and it was faster than the CUNYAC-qualifying standard of 1:01.10, which he had already surpassed at
the TCNJ Invitational on April 6.
At Gallaudet the dual meet results were as follows: the women's team scored 59 points while the Gallaudet women's team scored 85, while the men's team fell to Gallaudet 101-9.
The Cougars also competed at the world-famous Penn Relays, on Thursday-Saturday, April 25-27, at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, PA.
A highlight from the Penn Relays came in the form of the women's 4x100m relay team of
Tasheka James,
Jeffannie O'Garro,
Rashel Anderson,
Nicole Marsh, who finished in a time of 51.51. This time is the
second-fastest in the CUNYAC this season, behind only Kingsborough CC's mark.
Next up for the Cougars is the CUNYACÂ Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which Medgar Evers is hosting at Icahn Stadium on Sunday, May 12, beginning at 9 am. The list of Cougars competing at the CUNYACs includes the following student-athletes:
