2025-2026 MEC men's basketball schedule announced; Cougars ready for challenge of versatile slate

The Medgar Evers College men's basketball team unveiled its 2025-2026 schedule on Monday evening. In addition to the 14 annual CUNYAC contests the Cougars will compete in, the squad will play 11 notable non-conference games

2025-2026 Schedule Breakdown

November

The Cougars will open up their 2025-2026 campaign by competing in the Mike Daley Memorial Tournament, hosted by Nazareth University. Medgar Evers will take on the Golden Flyers, the hosts of the tournament, on November 7, and will play in either the consolation of championship game the following day (11/8) against either Clarkson or Marywood.
Medgar Evers will then come back to Brooklyn to play consecutive non-conference home games against Valley Forge (November 11) and Oberlin College (November 14), before wrapping up the month with road clashes at St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn on November 18, and Centenary University on November 22.

December

The Cougars will play six games in the month of December. Medgar Evers will plat FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ on December 1, followed by the CUNYAC opener against York College at home on December 5. Medgar Evers will then play a Sunday matinee at Manhattanville on December 7, before traveling to Baruch College to battle the CUNYAC runners-up from last season, the Bearcats.


Following a 16-day break, the Cougars will host the Dr. Carol V. DeCosta / Go 4 the Goal Tournament on December 28-29. On the opening day of the tourney, Medgar Evers will take on Bridgewater College at 1pm. The following day, depending on the results of the contest against Bridgewater, the Cougars will either take on Wheaton (MA) or Middlebury College.

January

Starting off the new calendar year, Medgar Evers will play three consecutive home games against Lehman (January 7), Brooklyn (January 9), and Connecticut College (January 12) before competing in two straight league games on the road against John Jay College (January 14) and CCNY (January 16). Two of the final three games of the month will be at home (Hunter on January 21, and Baruch on January 23), with the Cougars capping the month of January with a game at Lehman (January 31)

February

In the final month of the season, Medgar Evers will play a CUNYAC road game at Brooklyn (February 3), and a pair of home games against John Jay (February 6) and CCNY (February 11), before closing out the regular season with games at Hunter (February 13) and York (February 17).

Should the Cougars qualify for the CUNYAC postseason, the quarterfinals are set to take place on February 21, with the semifinals slated for February 24. The championship game taking place on February 26, and it'll take place at Hunter College on February 27 (6:30pm)
