Newcomer Moutiatou Djibring earns CUNYAC Honorable Mention following tremendous effort at Baruch

Medgar Evers women's basketball newcomer Moutiatou Djibring earned a CUNYAC Honorable Mention distinction (period of 12/8-12/14) earlier this week following her sensational performance in Medgar Evers' game against Baruch College at the ARC Arena (December 11). Following the announcement of the Honorable Mention, Head Coach Rodney Carr praised Djibring.

"It's very gratifying to see Moutiatou get recognized by the CUNY Athletic Conference," Carr said. "We know she has incredible ability, and it's just a matter of her executing during games, and against Baruch College, she put on a clinic. We have confidence that she'll use this performance as a springboard into the second half, and we believe as she continues to get more comfortable in our system, she'll start to establish herself as one of the premiere student-athletes in the conference."

In that aforementioned game against the Bearcats, Djibring put forth her best game this far during this 2025-2026 season, posting game-highs of 26 points (10-21 FG, 6-8 FT) and 17 rebounds (12 on the offensive glass) while also adding a steal.

Medgar Evers will return  to action on the weekend of January 3-4 of the new calendar year. On that aforementioned weekend, the Cougars will compete in the Johns Hopkins University Women's Basketball Classic, unfolding from the Goldfarb Gymnasium in Baltimore, Maryland. On Saturday, January 3, the Cougars will take on Rowan University at 2:00pm, and the following day, January 4, Medgar Evers will clash with William Paterson University at 1:00pm.
