Junior standout Aaliyah Lyons earns CUNYAC Honorable Mention following tremendous performance vs. York

Medgar Evers women's basketball standout Aaliyah Lyons earned a CUNYAC Honorable Mention distinction (period of 12/1-12/7) earlier this week following her tremendous performance in a 79-33 victory against York College this past Friday evening (December 5) at the Cougars Cave. Following the announcement of the Honorable Mention, Head Coach Rodney Carr praised Lyons.

"It's gratifying seeing Aaliyah get honored in some capacity by the CUNY Athletic Conference, though I thought she very well could have been the conference's Player of the Week because with her triple-double, she generated at least 35 points in our victory over York College. She's truly developed into our team leader, and I believe from here on out, we're going to be in great shape as we make a push to qualify for the CUNYAC Tournament."

In that aforementioned victory over the Cardinals, Lyons recorded a triple-double, netting 11 points, leading all players with 12 assists, and collecting 11 boards.

Medgar Evers will travel to Baruch College's ARC Arena this Thursday evening to take on the Bearcats. Start-time for the CUNYAC clash is set for 5:30pm.
