Women's basketball team announces 2025-2026 schedule; 24-game gauntlet features plethora of litmus tests

The Medgar Evers College women's basketball team unveiled its 2025-2026 schedule on Monday afternoon. In addition to the 14 annual CUNYAC contests the Cougars will compete in, the squad will play 10 challenging non-conference contests.

2025-2026 Schedule Breakdown

November

The Cougars will open up their 2025-2026 campaign with a local road contest on Saturday, November 8, as the Cougars will make the short trip to the Hill Center to battle non-conference foe St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn. Four days later, Medgar Evers will play its home opener against the Valiants of Manhattanville University (November 12). The Cougars will then travel to Boston, Massachusetts for a tournament at Emmanuel College on November 15-16. On the opening day of the tournament, Medgar Evers will play the Saints, and based on the result, the Cougars will either play Stevens or RIT in the consolation of championship the following day.

After playing against Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ on November 22, the Cougars return home to host the Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament. The Cougars will play USMMA on Saturday, November 29, and the following day, Medgar Evers will clash with either New York University or Colby Sawyer, depending on the previous day's output.

December

The Cougars will play three games in the month of December, opening up their CUNYAC portion of the schedule against York on December 5. Medgar Evers then closes out the month with road contests at Baruch (December 11, CUNYAC game) and SUNY Old Westbury (December 15)

January

Starting off the new calendar year the Cougars will travel to Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, Maryland) to compete in the Johns Hopkins University Women's Basketball Classic. On Saturday, January 3, Medgar Evers will tussle with Rowan University, before turning around the following day to take on William Paterson University.

From there, it's all CUNYAC games for the Cougars, with Medgar Evers playing seven of those for the rest of the month. Medgar Evers will play consecutive home games against Lehman (January 7) and Brooklyn (January 9), before playing two straight league games on the road against John Jay College (January 14) and CCNY (January 16). Two of the final three games of the month will be at home (Hunter on January 21, and Baruch on January 23), with the Cougars capping the month of January with a game at Lehman (January 31)

February

In the final month of the season, Medgar Evers will play a CUNYAC road game at Brooklyn (February 3), and a pair of home games against John Jay (February 6) and CCNY (February 11), before closing out the regular season with games at Hunter (February 13) and York (February 17).

Should the Cougars qualify for the CUNYAC postseason, the quarterfinals are set to take place on February 21, with the semifinals slated for February 25. The championship game taking place on February 27, and it'll take place at Baruch College on February 27 (7pm)
